Accessibility at Renner PTA

The Renner Elementary PTA wants every parent, caregiver, teacher, student and neighbor to be able to use this website — including people who use a screen reader, magnification, voice control, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or other assistive technology.

Our commitment

What we are working toward

We are working to make rennerpta.com conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Those guidelines explain how to make web content easier to perceive, operate and understand for people with a wide range of disabilities.

This is an ongoing effort by a volunteer-run organization. We do not claim that every page, document or form fully meets WCAG 2.2 or the Americans with Disabilities Act today. We review the site regularly, fix what we find, and welcome your help spotting anything we missed.

What we have done so far

  • Every page has a “Skip to main content” link, a single descriptive page heading and a logical heading order.
  • Menus, buttons, links and form fields can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and always show a visible focus ring.
  • Images have text alternatives, and purely decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
  • Embedded calendars and forms carry descriptive titles, and links that open a new tab say so.
  • Animations respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting, and pages reflow on small screens and at high zoom without sideways scrolling.
  • The meeting RSVP form explains any mistake in words next to the field, announces it to screen readers, and moves focus to the first field that needs attention.
  • Text, form-field borders and buttons meet WCAG contrast minimums, and the cookie banner never traps focus or hides a focused control.

Third-party forms and documents

Some parts of this site are provided by outside vendors, and we cannot change how they are built.

Payment and sign-up forms

Our membership, donation, business sponsorship and merchandise forms are provided by Zeffy, a third-party vendor. We have asked Zeffy about accessibility improvements and titled each embedded form, but some controls inside the forms may still be hard to use with a screen reader or keyboard.

If a form gets in your way, you do not have to use it. Email the PTA and a board member will complete your membership, donation, sponsorship or order with you another way.

PDF, Word and spreadsheet files

Older PTA documents such as bylaws, budgets and meeting minutes were created before this review and may not be fully accessible. If you need any document in an accessible format — for example tagged PDF, plain text or large print — ask us and we will provide it.

The meeting RSVP form on the Events page and the PTA calendar are also available by email if you prefer: just tell us which meeting you plan to attend.
